Camagüey, Jan 26. - The Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Unit (Prosalud) in Camagüey held an important meeting with the group Trans Masculine Individuals of Cuba, addressing fundamental topics related to trans identities.

The event was attended by Flavio Noah Pérez Fernández, National Health Coordinator of the group and a specialist in supporting transition processes. His professional approach is based on offering safe, empathetic, and wellness-promoting support to those who need it. During his presentation, he shared experiences and knowledge, providing personalized guidance and addressing the concerns of the attendees.

The event was not only an educational space but also a meeting point for new members, as well as for families and partners seeking support. Many arrived seeking guidance, but also with the desire to engage in activism efforts that promote visibility and respect.

In this context, the recently approved Family Code in Cuba was highlighted, representing a significant achievement in the recognition and respect of diverse gender identities. This regulation promotes equality and combats discrimination, guaranteeing fundamental rights for all individuals.

Gleyder Peña Álvarez, a Psychology graduate and representative of Prosalud in the region, emphasized that "the inclusion of norms that provide protection to families led by trans individuals, as well as the recognition of the legitimacy of their experiences, allows the Code to foster the construction of a more inclusive environment. This also reflects a social commitment to diversity, thereby promoting the well-being and dignity of all individuals in Cuban society."

These meetings are essential because they provide a space for dialogue and learning. They offer resources and support to those in the process of transition by bringing together individuals with diverse experiences. This exchange of ideas and perspectives not only enriches the conversation but can also lead to innovative and creative solutions.

The collaboration between Prosalud and the group Trans Masculine Individuals of Cuba in Camagüey highlights the importance of creating safe and accessible spaces to discuss health and diversity topics, thereby contributing to the construction of a more just and equitable society.
